On March 5, 2018, the Hollister City Council voted to cancel this year’s famed motorcycle rally. The beleaguered biker rally bit the dust in a 3-2 vote.

Those of us here in Hollister can hear it coming. It’s begun. The annual trek of tens of thousands of people to the famous motorcycle rally in Hollister, named the Hollister Independence Rally most years, is showing its colors and vibrations.

The Hollister Motorcycle Rally centerpiece is San Benito Street in downtown Hollister. Having its beginnings in 1947, it is believed to be the event that gave birth to the idea of the “American Biker”.

Downtown Hollister will again host the Hollister Motorcycle Rally, this year being the 70th anniversary. San Benito Street, Hollister’s version of “main street” transforms into a street festival full of custom motorcycles.
